I had both my daughter and son born on the Ann Stewart ward. Each time I felt very well looked after, and I thought the staff were courteous and professional.
The only constructive comment I would make that might improve things is that there could be more accurate information available for parents who wish to have their baby boys circumcised. When my son was born, I asked several members of staff about whether it might be possible for my son to receive a neonatal circumcision. However, everyone said that babies cannot be routinely circumcised in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. I took this at face value and had to spend time looking for a reputablel clinic where I was able to have my son circumcised.
It was only later that I learned through another mother that newborn baby boys can be routinely circumcised at parental request in the Westminster wing outpatients.
I think it would be useful if parents on the Ann Stewart ward who enquire about circumcising their boys, could be told that it is available privately in Westminster wing outpatients.
"Both children born here (wish I knew of..."
