"Cancelled Operation"

About: NHS Knowsley CCG Warrington Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I have been waiting for an operation since January 2017.

I was cancelled in January because the hospital didn't put the correct warnings on my notes and I was listed at a local hospital instead of the main one.

I was then given a new date and cancelled again as the Dr needed to operate on someone else before their holiday.

I was then contacted and given a date for May 2017 and told I would not be cancelled again.

I turned up for the operation at 7: 30 as advised was left sitting in a waiting room for 6hrs without seeing anyone. Then the Dr comes and tells me that I am cancelled. So that is now the 3rd time.

I am then provided with another date in May this time I am told to attend at 11am. I attended and then seen the Dr and I was cancelled again at 1: 30pm. Another wasted day and arrangement changed for nothing so that is 4 times.

I have now been given a new date. I was told that they had booked me in but are waiting on staff to confirm the will cover the list. I know staff won't cover the list as they are in dispute over cover and contracts with the hospital and have been for over a year. This will now be the 5th cancellation and I am not even considering this date as a cancellation as the hospital was never able to perform the operation.

This whole situation has left me down and low. I have been off work sick with stress of everything. I have complained to the hospital but just get apologies which don't mean anything. I have asked for them to move it to another hospital they just refuse to look at this option.

I don't know who else to speak to I have contacted the CCG nothing doing there. There is no information for multiple cancellations anywhere just this 28 day rule which means nothing.
