"Car parking at Crosshouse"

About: Crosshouse Hospital

(as a carer),

A very large amount of money has been spent on upgrading front door access at the front of the hospital. Part of the "improvement" involves the removal of more than two dozen ordinary parking places in the short-stay park at the Physiotherapy end of the hospital and designating it for the exclusive use of "emergency and Patients Transport " vehicles. Today there was not a single vehicle of the "permitted" type to be seen. Instead, cars were parked in all sorts of places.

When the Combined Assessment Unit was in the planning stage, additional parking spaces were required to be provided. It would appear to me that some of these additional spaces have been sacrificed to provide the "emergency and Patient Transport" spaces. w Are the parking conditions attached to the CAU project being broken? I think the space involved could be better used for Disabled Parking which is usually full and overflowing.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear GRUMPY CARER,

I am so sorry you had a problem getting a parking space. it is really annoying, particularly if you are transporting someone with a mobility issue. I don't know the answer to your question, but I can ask the people concerned with parking at Crosshouse and I will report their response back to you on this forum.

Thank you for raising this with us.

Best wishes,

Eunice

Dear GRUMPY CARER,

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and fully agree with you. We do raise concerns, similar to what you experience, to the project teams in charge of the developments. There had been some additional car parking for the site, at the end of the CAU build, and other additional parking replaced those removed for the CAU build. The temporary signage being taken down has been delayed, as well as the reinstatements of the Car Park, and we have forwarded your concern to our Capital Planning teams’

kind regards

Our Senior Project Manager – Capital Planning, Iain Fairley has also responded to your post

Dear GRUMPY CARER,

I am sorry you found it difficult to get a parking space but we are in the process of reinstating the short stay car park to full capacity now that the remedial works to the drop off have been completed.

The work to reinstate the car park will be started within the next few weeks and we hope this will alleviate any difficulty thereafter.

Regards

Iain Fairley
