What I liked
Absolutely nothing
What could be improved
Listening and understandingskills, acceptance that some patients know the complexities of their own long term conditions.
Anything else?
Admitted by ambulance with an irregular heart rhythm (diagnosed in a neighbouring hospital ten years previously where treatment is maintained - but no choice where ambulance takes you). Cardioversion (electrical shock to heart under general aneasthesia) best option for condition to restore proper sinus rhythm. Yet left on hospital trolley in A&E for 9 hours, absolute minimal treatment and attention. Unfriendly staff, felt ignored by most - offered food and drink so staff clearly unaware of probable need for Nil By Mouth - seemed more concerned to get me to Medical Assessment Unit - why? - my condition has had ten years of assessment and treatment - all they had to do was pick up a phone to the neighbouring hospital or transfer me. Decided to discharge myself and seek help from other hospital.
Second time this has occurred, first time in 2008 they didn't even check my pacemaker to determine its state, following irregular heart rhythm, merely discharged me from Medical Assessment Unit (where no real assessment made) to treating hospital where tests showed pacemaker battery low and pacemaker needed urgent replacement.
