"Gallbladder diagnosis problems at Stoke Mandeville"

I was taken into Stoke Mandeville Hospital last year with suspected appendicitis. After being seen to by some nice staff in A&E I had a CT scan. My appendix was apparently fine, but the Doctor was concerned about high white blood cell count and a 'bulge' in my colon. He muttered something about possible Crohns disease. I spent the night and in the morning the same Doctor came round with the Consultant, who I might add had seemed quite dismissive. The 'bulge' then turned into a streak, Definitely not Gallbladder, so I was discharged. 2 weeks later I was back in after seeing my GP who suspected pancreatitis. After being prodded several times I was told it was probably my gallbladder. When I told them that I was in 2 weeks ago, had a CT scan and was told it was not Gallbladder, the response was, 'Oh but a CT Scan wont show that up too well'! So, I was asked if I wanted to stay in for the weekend and have an Ultrasound on Monday or if I wanted painkillers get sent home and they would call me on the Monday to arrange said scan for the Tuesday. Thinking this would free a bed up I opted for the latter. Come Tuesday, it transpires that they had forgotten to write this on my notes. Frustrated, I called my GP who arranged a referral with a different hospital, The Horton in Banbury. As it happens I was taken into the Horton A&E 2 weeks later with Jaundice from, yes you guessed it, Gallbladder disease! The moral of this story seems to be, don't go to the Stoke Mandeville and don't listen to a GP who tells you that you just have a stitch.
