"Waste of NHS funding"

I was advised by my GP to phone healthy minds to get some one to one counselling as I am really struggling with stress and anxiety.

I called them as recommended and could not get through as they are only available whilst most people are in work, I then took time out of work to call and still they were absolutely no help, they will not talk to me over the phone, I had to go online and fill out a triage form answering the same questions my GP asked when they referred me to this farce of a service.

I then called up to chase up a reply and am told that they will contact me by post with a reply, still no help, just further delays.

When the reply arrived I still get absolutely no help, these ridicoulous people see fit to invite me to a 30 minute group talk at 11am on a Weds morning 20 days from now where they can tell me more about the service, all of this information I should be able to read on the website.

Oh and the best bit is they now expect me to fill out a printed form asking all of the same questions I answered verbally to the gp and online in the triage.

How many hoops and barriers will they put in the way to avoid helping people? You are a waste of time and are causing me to lose my mind.

I approached Healthy Minds for help with Stress and Anxiety, so far I have just experienced typical NHS Admin staff paid to waste my time and not do anything at all productive, you are causing stress and anxiety, I am livid.

Is it any wonder the NHS is always crying about being so underfunded, far too much money is wasted on services like this that do not help at all and are filled with staff who are focused on running you round in circles in a ridiculous system rather than talking to you, helping or looking for a solution.

My work would laugh me out of the office if I asked for time off at short notice to attend an information session.

What if this anxiety is driving me towards suicidal thoughts? Maybe it is, nobody cares and the NHS are not helping!!

Hello, thanks for taking the time to raise these issues with us, we’re really sorry to hear about this.

Making sure people get the right support is our number one priority and we’d welcome the opportunity to meet with you to talk about this in more detail. We want to look into the matter and also make sure you have access to the support you need.

If you'd be happy to meet with us, please telephone Carol Shephardson on 0161 716 5714 who will be able to arrange a time to meet with the Tameside service manager, Claire, and the Trust Healthy Minds lead, Caroline, at your convenience.

Alternatively, if you'd like to chat with someone outside of the service, our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can help. You can reach PALS on 0161 716 3188.
