"Waiting time for crucial CT scan"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Medical Oncology University Hospital Wishaw / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 7) University Hospital Wishaw / X-rays and Scans

(as a relative),

My 71 year old father was referred immediately to Wishaw hospital recently for a Chest X-ray after divulging to his doctor his very severe symptoms - which could potentially point to lung cancer. After the processing of his X-rays he was told he would be referred for both a CT scan and a Broncoscopy.

One week later he has a date for his Broncoscopy, but has no news on a slot for his CT scan.

Obviously time is of the essence as his symptoms point to stage IV lung cancer, indeed he has barely eaten over the last week, sleeps more than he is awake and is in great pain and I'm very concerned that he is entering an "end of life" phase.

Can anyone give any guidance on the likely waiting time my father will have until his CT scan at this hospital? I don't feel this is being handled as urgently as it should be, but I do realise there are waiting times and many other urgent cases.

Thanks for any replies
