What I liked
I can only say that team who did his angiogram test were amazing and caring- the way a hospital should be. But we have only seen those people once, those people i will praise
What could be improved
I have a concern about the treatment my partner who hasbeen with your hospital for 3 weeks with an unruptured brain aneurysm. When he was first transferred he had an appointment to come in and be examined/admitted. When he got there he was told a doctor would come see him right away. No one came to see him for 5 hours. He was in a ward (11 floor south I believe) that was very uncaring staff and was literally need to chase a nurse down to get his vitals. His complaints of pain were dismissed as "anxiety" or "stress" and no one fully examined him follow these complaints. He complained about a sharp headache and pain in his eye. " Oh its because you have an aneurysm" or " or it is probably just stress" we were told. Since then his right eye has lost motor functioning - surprising to us to show this new deficit and no one has throughly examined his eye this even to this day! His eye is getting worse and they since have just put a patch over it and said it should get better in a week or so. It's been a week and it's now worse. Today he was scheduled for his aneurysm occlusion but was bumped due to the lack of beds in Intensive care to accommodate him. That happened to him before with his others tests. He just keeps getting bumped over and over because they doctors don't feel he is as "urgent" as the other patients but we are afraid that he will soon become one of the emergency cases if action isn't taken soon. He was asked to fast overnight and that a doctor would come see him at 8am about this procedure. It wasn't until 12 that I myself had to go find someone to tell me that his surgery was cancelled. He hadn't eating or drank water - as instructed for 18 hours. I wonder how much longer this would have gone on had I myself not chased someone down for an answer. We have seen 5 different doctors in the last week or so come up just to "relay" a message for this doctor.
I understand that this is a busy hospital but when there is blatant negligence going on, a huge lack of communication between the doctors, nurses, and patients and when I, his partner, is having to track down a nurse or doctor just to give him an answer about his worsening condition - it just doesn't seem like the hospital is doing their job. Piotr has a disorder that is exacerbated by stress and being in a hospital where he fear his care isn't much of a concern to them only raises his deficit.
This is somewhat of a plea to take him out of this torturous cycle and stand up to the care and reputation this hospital keeps saying it has ... but we have not seen at all. the doctors.... the nurses..... who have been on his ward seem to have no idea of what's going on or when he will be treated. This constant state of uncertainty and dismissal is not what we expected from this hospital and hope that measures will be taken to see that he gets the best care this hospital can give.
