About: Wexham Park Hospital / Accident and emergency

My 12 year old daughter got conjunctivitis in both eyes, on 1st June went to A & E on advice of 111

I was concerned as so swollen and puffy I thought she had allergic reaction to eye cream.

Got there for 11.30pm see assessment nurses which was quick, thought fantastic they looked at Sophie thought this is good and we waited two and half hours to be seen, so thought this is important both my daughters eyes only get one set of eyes, very disgusted on when we saw another nurse who confirmed conjunctivitis and the swollen puffy red eyes are normal and I had to ask the questions to get any answers, was in there less than five minutes too 😡

I have total respect for nurses and all medical team and would never waste there presious time. My complaint is why couldn't the two assessment nurses say to myself this is normal for conjunctivitis and here are the warning systems to look out for and I would have been so grateful for there help and advice, instead I had to stay awake till 2.30 in morning for less than five minutes with another nurse to be given advice, the internet gives me more knowledge than a nurse, such a shame.

Where did the caring go plus I could have had a accident driving home in early hours of morning from hospital, when I could have been told in assessment with Sophie. Never ever complained about medical staff before, but this time I feel strongly no responsibility or caring given.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

I'm sorry you had to wait for a long time to see the nurse after Sophie had been seen by the triage nurse. We should have explained what was going to happen and how long it would take.

The purpose of being seen very quickly by the first nurse is to make sure that the sickest children are seen as a priority.

I have passed your feedback onto the team so they can reflect on your experience

Thank you again for raising your concerns

Kind Regards
