"My child's urgent referral being downgraded"

About: St Peter's Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My 7 year old has been suffering from increasing joint pain, blood tests run by my gp showed high white blood cells count, increased rheumatoid factor and high inflammatory markers. She was referred as urgent by my gp to ashford and St peters. yesterday I received a phone call to say the referral has been downgraded by the hospital and she won't be seen for 10 weeks. As you can imagine I am very concerned by this.

We appreciate that as a concerned parent you are worried about the delay to your daughter’s appointment; however without all the details it is difficult for us to comment further. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01932 723553 to outline your concerns. They will be able to look into this further for you and contact the relevant members of our paediatrics team.
