I first noticed the lack of cleanliness in the communal toilets when I stayed on Bolney ward. It was clear they hadn't been cleaned for a few days as there was a build up of dust around the toilet and sink, the bins were over flowing and the floor had debris and dirt. I saw a cleaner on the ward but all they did was change the bins. The floor wasn't washed/swept or surfaces cleaned from one patient leaving to the next.
I got readmitted for a week due to an infection, I had a private room on bolney ward, my bedding wasn't changed at all, my floor not cleaned or washed and my bathroom not touched, not even bleech down the toilet. The only thing the person did was change my bin in the toilet every day.
I do want to say, as one of the previous reviews said the staff are wonderful, so kind and friendly, you can see how hard they work looking after all the patients and still have time for a smile and to make you feel looked after, but hygiene is so so important when in hospital.
My father stayed in East surrey hospital and his bedding was changed, floors mopped surfaces washed every day and even the curtain got changed between patients.
I wasn't going to leave a review until I read someone else's who seemed to have had the same experience, hopfully things will change because it would be the perfect ward if it was clean.
