I attended my medical practice within two days following a road traffic collision as the day after the collision I was experiencing neck/shoulder stiffness as well as a constant headache throughout the day and night before my appointment.
I felt arranging an appointment with my GP was appropriate rather than A&E as I had no symptoms which would indicate urgent medial care was needed. I am aware of these as I am an nhs clinician but as I am not a doctor I still wished to have reassurance and advice via GP.
I found reception to be very helpful and I was offered a very convenient appointment for the same day I called in. The appointment timing was very prompt and I didn't need to wait past my appointment time to see the GP. However, I found the initial questioning of my assessment upsetting as I was asked if I was so worried why didn't I go to A&E. This made me feel as though I was wasting his time and when I explained my reasons for choosing to see my GP he then questioned if I had done research online.
This was upsetting as I wished to have reassurance and advice following a collision. Following this the explanation of my symptoms and advice was satisfying but I feel the initial questions were not appropriate and made me feel uncomfortable to ask any questions in detail as I was given the impression of wasting a practitioners time
