"What's wrong with X'ray Department?"

About: Cumberland Infirmary / General surgery

I went for a Hip X'ray to the Infirmary on the 7th of April. The waiting was minimal despite being informed that they were two theaters short due to refurbishment. The busy staff were very efficient under the circumstances.

I am still awaiting the results of this X'ray on 27th May, Seven (7) weeks later. My question is that with two theaters short, and one would presume less X'rays being done, how on earth can they account for a seven week delay?

Dear Mr Wrightson

Thank you for sharing details of your recent visit to the Cumberland Infirmary Radiology department.

I am very sorry that you have been waiting for 7 weeks for the results of your x-ray. The department is very busy but all results are usually reported quickly, with the results being sent to whoever requested the examination.

I would suggest that, in the first instance, you contact the medical professional who requested your x-ray or you could contact PALS - Patient Advice and Liaison Service - so that they can help you look into your concerns or put you in touch with the most relevant person to help.

They can be contacted on

• 01228 814008 between 10am and 3pm, Monday to Friday,

• E-mail to PALSCIC@ncuh.nhs.uk

• Patient Advice & Liaison Service

Cumberland Infirmary

In the meantime your comments will be passed to the radiology department
