"An up and down experiance"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Felt awful on arrival. Very well looked after by the ambulatory team and found a bed very quickly from arrival. Excellent pain relief provided and regular monitoring by nursing staff. Informed to ask for pain relief when required but not shown where the call button was and had to call for help. The call button was shown to me by my husband when he came to visit.

The operation was postponed until the following day and this was explained to me. Food was provided despite being after meal times.

The day of the operation went smoothly although I took a while to come around from the anaesthetic. I felt pressure to leave that evening despite not feeling well with a member of staff saying it was up to me.

The following day I left but apart from me asking the doctor when he came to examine me how I should look after the wounds, there was no aftercare information provided on discharge.

The efficiency and approach of different shifts was interesting to observe.
