"Inexperienced nurse"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

Had appointment with in ENT. I needed blood tests and a nurse said "I'll do it!". the nurse looked very young

I said 'No', I'd rather go to a more experienced person. I didn't fancy 'being practiced on'!

The lady I went to in the 'blood taking dept' has been taking bloods for a very long time and can do it in a flash, professionally and efficiently.

This is how it should be done. I was actually terrified that I was approached in such a 'Gung ho'way!

Dear Nadir718

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about your recent attendance to the ENT Outpatients department. I was really sorry to read that you were unhappy in the way that you were approached to have your blood tests taken. Your experience has been shared with the team, as we are always keen to listen and learn from our patients feedback and take any necessary action as we strive to improve the services we offer our patients. I hope that I can offer you some reassurance by letting you know that all our departmental staff have the appropriate skills and training to carry out this procedure.

I am really pleased to read that you received the tests in a professional and efficient manner by a member of the team.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience with you further. If this would be helpful to you, please do contact me via email: jeannette.street@tst.nhs.uk

Regards,

Jeannette Street, Senior Staff Nurse

ENT Department
