"A shopping trip to Chesterfield"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

Friday the 9/12/16 my wife and myself set out on a shopping trip to Chesterfield. It was not going well shopping wise when my wife said that she did not feel to well then she suddenly collasped her breathing poor and her eyes closing. I yelled for someone to call an ambulance. I was joined a a member of the pubic who was an off duty nurse thank goodness. Help was at hand but her condition was not improving. A Paramedic arrived and started treating my wife. Then the ambulance arrived and took us to the hospital. Going straight to Emergency Unit tests were carried out and the initial diagnosis given.

Later that night she was taken to EMU ward for further treatment, then a few days later to Markham ward to complete her hospital treatment. Having been admitted on the 9.12.16 she was discharged on the 19.12.16 to become an out-patient. This was the best Christmas present ever. Since then she now is able to go to our local surgery for updates. She is not cured but we were told that she had suffered a huge blood clot and that she was very lucky to survive.

I originally put this in writing and sent it to the local Chesterfield press hoping that it would be printed so everybody would see how grateful we are.

So as I am not sure if it was printed this tells the story.

We cannot thank the staff at the hospital enough the treatment she received was exemplary. Keep up the good work.Thank you to the people of Chesterfield who also helped.

Our life changed on that day we visited Chesterfield.

We are actually from West Hallam.
