I have been treated for approx 25 years for chronic pain in lower leg after a motor cycle crash. Compound fractures tib &fib, sever complications set in wound etc.
Received numerous operations over the years to aid walking etc. Then referred to pain clinic for treatment, pain management courses, tens box, phsyo etc. Then started on synthetic nerve blocks ( guanethidine blocks) starting every 3 months as time went by we were managing to get nearly 10 months before I needed to get further treatment. This allowed me to walk nearly pain free and with help of pacing training, things were as near to normal as possible.
Then last year I contracted bladder cancer so due to treatment I was limited to being nearly house bound. Any way to cut a long story short I started to get the pain attacks again but talking to the nursing staff I should leave the pain treatment if possible until after my first set of BCG treatment was over.
When I contacted the pain clinic I was informed that because it was 1 year since my last treatment that I would have to be referred back to the clinic, which I did and was told by my Doctor that the main anesthetist had left and these blocks were no longer available! and thats how its been left.
"thats how its been left."
