"Night shift nurse was abrupt, rude & unhelpful"

About: Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

I have inherited polycyctic kidneys and liver. On Fri, 5 May, I fell and was advised by my GP to go to A&E. After wiating hours from 2pm, a Dr (at 8pm) said I'd to be hospitalised for a scan, which I got on Sun 7 May morning.

On Sat 6 May about 7pm, the nurse arrived for their shift. After their round, they got to my bed & asked about my cannula and 'when I had my mastectomy?!' I hadn't had any of these, and was horrified when they mentioned the mastectomy. After I said no to these, they mumbled something and moved on. In the wee hours of Sun morning, about 2.30am, I politely asked for their help in getting out of bed, after struggling to do it myself. They put their face in mine, asking, 'Why? You're mobile and self-caring!'.

I apologised, and explained I'd had had a fall and cracked my ribs, making it painful & difficult to get up. They then asked me to use the remote-control to life my bed higher. I'm appalled at their rudeness and callous disregard for patients' comfort and well-being. I spoke with 2 patients in my ward & they, too, thought them abrupt and rude. This nurse upset me so much I couldn't get back to sleep till some hours later, and was depressed the following day.
