Admitted to Nuffield Wednesday april5th for surgery the following day, anaesthetist came that evening and explained the procedure for the following day which was good as it puts your mind at ease and dispels some of the apprehension you feel when heading for an operation like this.
Thursday morning up at six ,tea and toast then nothing else apart from a sip of water with the pills to make you feel drowsy. Surgeon comes for a chat and explains what they were going to do then gets you to sign consent form allowing them to do it.
A porter comes with trolley about 1 o clock to go to theatre, don't remember a thing after leaving room until sometime in the middle of the night in intensive care, needed a drink of water then slept until morning after.Excellent care in CCU until Saturday afternoon and then brought back to Ingleborough room for three days until release on Tuesday April 11th.
I owe you all a great big thanks, firstly the theatre staff ( I only met the surgeon and anaesthetist) but there must be many more ,secondly all the staff in CCU,and lastly but by no means least all the nurses, doctors, physios, careers, catering staff, cleaners in fact everyone on Ingleborough ward . Thanks!
