We have just had our second child at Hillingdon and the care we received on both occasions was excellent. As a same sex couple, our family unit was recognised and respected and we were treated with understanding and kindness at every stage of our journey. Our consultant for our second child was our "safe pair of hands" taking onboard our concerns and putting us very much at the forefront of any decisions made. They were the oncall consultantant and was exceptionally kind during a very traumatic first delivery that ended up as an emergency c.section. They made the right decisions at the right time taking into consideration not just physical concerns but also my emotional wellbeing. The community midwife team were great, my only wish would be to have more consistency as I never saw the same midwife twice, however I understand the pressures faced by a busy NHS Trust and that this is not always possible. The care we received on the Labour ward for our second child ( elective c.section) was efficient, friendly and professional. The staff all worked hard to put you at ease and keep you informed at all times. During our time in recovery, which was longer than anticipated due to blood loss, the midwives helped me to establish successful breastfeeding and were very kind and encouraging throughout. We were transferred to Alexandra ward to a private room where we stayed overnight . We were fortunate enough to be able to remain on the enhanced recovery programme and be discharged within 24 hours. The care and support we received on the ward was exceptional and we would like to thank everyone who was involved. We would like to make a special mention about our HCA who went above and beyond their duties that night to ensure we were happy and our stay was comfortable. We will always think of them with great fondness. We commend the work that you all do and feel very lucky to have had both babies in such a wonderful place. Thankyou again
"Excellent care"
