Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff who dealt with our teen daughter this morning.
After my daughter woke us up this morning crying with abdominal and back pain which had been going on and off for a couple of days, we decided to take her to the walk in centre at Wansbeck General. We were only in there 10 mins before being attended to. The female nurse practitioner took a detailed history and following this advised us to go down to NSECH A&E so a paediatrician could assess her.
We got down there and shown to the children's A&E department where again we were welcomed by some friendly staff and triaged very promptly by a male nurse practitioner who carried out an excellent assessment and history of my daughter in a extremely friendly and sensitive manner.
My 14 year old daughter has phobias associated with a past trauma injury and does not like visiting the GP never mind a hospital. However, this nurse with his caring manner and humour immediately put my daughter at ease which made the whole experience a lot better for both of us. We were dealt with very quickly and were on our way back home within 90 minutes.
As an NHS worker, I often feel we do not hear enough of the positive things we do. Therefore I would like it to be known how grateful we are for the tremendous care we received. Well done to all staff involved.
"Very good and efficient care service"
