"Charging disabled people to park"

(as a service user),

now you are charging disabled people to park in the designated car park = what next=

we have enough to worry about= without worrying about paying parking prices. We have to get there early to see our specialists and most of the time it's a 2 hour wait which can only line your pockets

We absolutely understand that parking charges at hospitals, particularly for blue badge holders, is a contentious issue and introducing these charges was not a decision we took lightly. You can read more about the rationale behind this decision on the News page of our website - http://www.ashfordstpeters.nhs.uk/latest-news - but essentially, this is one of a number of measures we are taking to ensure we protect our central income for direct patient care.

It is also important to remember that the charges are based on affordability criteria for everyone (abled bodied or otherwise). Those in receipt of certain benefits or who are deemed to be on very low incomes have the option of reclaiming their travel and parking costs through a national NHS scheme.
