About: North Tyneside General Hospital

I have recently been a patient on ward 20 at the North Tyneside General Hospital from 1st to 3rd November 2007. I feel that I should say to thank you for the excellent way in which I was treated from first arriving until leaving the hospital.

When I first arrived the staff did not have a bed for me - having overstayed my scheduled time by in excess of 24 hours I understand how this can easily happen. The staff were extremely apologetic and very courteous during my wait, both the nursing staff and support staff made sure I was comfortable and kept up to date and I eventually moved into my private room not long before my operation was scheduled.

All of the staff (nursing staff and theatre staff) worked together quickly, smoothly and without fuss. My operation was carried out on time and successfully. This treatment continued throughout my stay on the ward. I was treated with dignity, politeness, humour, (where appropriate) and care and the whole visit was much more pleasant than i had anticipated. Everyone I came in contact with made me feel that I was important to them, not just a number. I even enjoyed the food!

I have been in hospital twice before, both times in the private sector and the level of service given by your staff far exceeded my previous experiences. I appreciate that this level of service is only achieved as a result of a great deal of hard work from everyone in the team and therefore want to congratulate you and everyone involved.
