Attending a and e last night i noticed that quiet a few patients were seen more than once. Within their visit one lad who had a fracture had been in there 6 hours and been seen 4 times. Another had had bad burns to hand being told was minor injury. He was called in at least 3 times the person i went with was called in 3 times. I do understand 1st call being triarge assessment. But then to keep people there for for 5 6 or more hours is a joke waiting times went up as the lcd display said from 2 and half hours to 3 then 4 as we past midnight. Seemed people with walk in symptons were seen fast like in and out whilst more serious had to wait. Must say seems like a good way of manipulating the seen in a certain time figures to see the patient sent through within a hour then sent back out to wait for hours. Walsall a and e should take a.page out of wolverhamptons new a and e where you can see via a communication screen how far you are through precedure and shows various depattment within the system. Overall someone needs to dhake up the whole of the system to make waiting less time.

The Emergency Department would be happy to review any individual concerns in relation to patients care and uses negative comments to look at potential solutions for issues raised. The triage process ensures the ‘sickness’ of patients are seen in priority order and there is robust reporting of all patients who breach the 4 hour standard.
