My husband was recently admitted to Avening Ward He was very poorly and we were told that he would not recover from the illness he had. My husband and I were told together on the Monday that he only had days to live, everyone on the ward sprung into action, I was told that there were no restrictions on my visiting with him, and I was given a room overnight, they managed to secure funding for Hospice at Home and my husband was told that he could come home. on Tuesday morning there was a bed delivered to my home, and Tuesday afternoon my husband arrived home, not easy as we live in an upstairs flat, but they got him upstairs. We had Hospice Nurses and community Nurses coming in, it was incredible. Unfortunately my husband died on the Thursday morning, but I will never be able to thank everyone enough for getting him home to die, we were together and it was peaceful, I/we could not have asked for more. So a huge thank you to everyone concerned, you made all the difference to our last few days together.
