My husband was admitted to Hairmyres hospital East Kilbride with a very low platelet count. The care and attention he received on being admitted initially thru A&E was very good. When he was transferred to HDU / ward 2, 10 and ward 11, the care and attention was excellent. The doctors explained his condition and treatment on a day to day basis, keeping him informed at all times. The staff in general were very kind and supportive. Today, he attended for a bone marrow biopsy and again the care and attention was superb. The nurses, Jane and Margaret, made him feel relaxed reducing his anxiety. We have always had a very good experience at Hairmyres Hospital and would find it difficult to find fault. Our thanks to all.

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive experience of the care your husband received whilst attending Hairmyres Hospital.

I am pleased that you felt all nursing staff were caring, attentive, kind and supportive. We strive to achieve safe, person centered care at all times and it is always nice to get positive feedback. I will ensure this is shared with all the wards and departments you have specifically mentioned.

I am also delighted that Jane and Margaret helped reduce your husband’s anxiety during his bone marrow biopsy.

I will also feedback to the medical staff regarding the excellent communication that they provided. It is extremely important that patients and their relatives understand their treatment plans and I am reassured that this was provided on a daily basis.
