"Professional and caring service"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital Insch & District War Memorial Hosp. / Out Patient Clinics

(as the patient),

I have been extremely impressed by the high level of service I have received from both the community midwives in Insch (Allison, Fiona, Val, Martine and Mel) throughout my pregnancy and for the 10 days post labour. They have always been very attentive and very reassuring with providing endless guidance and support. They cover a large area but I have never been made to feel they are too busy to answer my questions and meet my needs.

I required a cesarean section for the birth of my daughter and the after care from the community midwives has been faultless. They have, as before been very attentive and put me in touch with the doctors when I felt the pain was increasing. This is my first cesarean so I did not know what to expect but the community midwives have been very knowledgable which has proved invaluable.

The service received at the Aberdeen maternity hospital during labour was also of a very high standard. My waters broke before contractions started fully and the team at the Westburn ward were always at the other end of the phone to help me. Once fully in labour the team (Connie, Tracey, Sheena and the surgical team (I do apologise as I cannot remember everyone's name)) were fantastic. At all times my and my baby's needs were put at the front of their operations. There were a couple of complications and I needed a cesarean but despite this the team remained focuses and provided the necessary guidance, knowledge and support. Every step was explained to me in detail which I found very reassuring.

For my receiver time in the Ashgrove ward the service was once again excellent. Mairi in particular was very supportive and helpful.

My husband and I could not have asked for a more professional and caring service.

Dear Mackinnon

Many congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter and thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback - especially when you must be busy settling into your new family life.

I am very happy to hear that you and your husband were impressed with all parts of the service that you came into contact with. This is even more important when you are unsure what is happening or when complications occur which can be very scary if not explained properly. All the staff that you have mentioned will be delighted to receive your feedback and I will make sure that it is shared with them and all the teams that you mentioned.

Jenny
