"A traumatic experience put to ease."

About: Frimley Park Hospital / Gynaecology

After being rushed to A&E on the evening of the 16/04/2017 with complications following a end of pregnancy procedure I was placed under the care of your Gynecology department. From the get go, I was treated with the up most care, dignity, respect and compassion from all staff. I was admitted into the early pregnancy unit the early morning of 17/04/16 and discharged in the afternoon of 18/04/16. The housekeepers, catering, healthcare assistants, staff nurses, doctors and my consultant I was assigned too were all absolutely amazing and I can't thank them enough for the care they provided physically and emotionally.

Unfortunately after being discharged I had to go back to the ward the same night after experiencing some further complications while at home. That night I had one of the most traumatic experiences ever. I also work in health care (in psychiatry) and I have never experienced such extreme pressure all staff are under first hand. Due to working in healthcare I completely understand the pressure the NHS is under however I did not expect things to be as it was that night. I was waiting almost 3 hours to be seen by the doctor and consultant in a lot of pain and discomfort, as they were the people on call for the gyne team. They kept me informed and I explained not to worry as it's totally understandable. I'm

not writing this to AT ALL in any way disregard or complain of the treatment I received but after finally being seen at aroun 11:30pm that night (arriving at 19:30), I had to be left in the scanning room and on the bed awaiting an open procedure. I was half naked with a sheet on top of me, in a lot of pain and bleeding a lot of blood. The nursing team on the ward were luckily available to see to me and change the bedding and support not just me but my mum. The consultant came back after over an hour of myself being left on the bed as they had to deal with an emergency and then completed my procedure. I wanted to just give the consultant a hug and say 'Can I make you a cup of tea? go and have a break' as I could see their face, how apologetic they were and how awful the consultant felt they were unable to provide the proper care/treatment they are trained to do so. This consultant was amazing never the less and the nurses on the unit too! They helped keep me calm and really reassured me. This is just an experience that has made me angry that not enough is being done for the NHS. I wish our government could do more, I felt a burden and just wanted everyone to have a cup of tea and let them know they done an amazing job that night!! and they ALL need to be recognised for the amazing job they do!!!

I have just been discharged today after an emergency op following more complications.I can't thank ALL of the gyne team and theatre/surgery team enough. Thank you for reassuring me, looking after me physically and emotionally.

I will fight for our NHS. You do amazing. Thank you! :)

Dear Lizzie

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on your recent experience.

I'm sorry that you've had such a difficult experience and thank you for thinking of us at this time.

I'm pleased that you felt supported and cared for by the teams that looked after you.

I am sorry to hear that you were left though and we didn't provide you with the experience of care we would all want to.

I've passed your full review onto the team to reflect on your comments both positive and where we didn't do so well.

Thanks again

Kind Regards

Claire Marshall
