When I was 18 I started taking the pill due to suffering for years from extremely heavy and painful periods. I have now been taking the pill for for three years and so have made regular trips to see the nurse in order to renew prescriptions. However, everytime I go I am met with staff who only want to focus on my weight (which I acknowledge has increased over the years).
I completely understand staff showing concern about my weight but what I don't understand is the lack of understanding I receive when I try to explain my weight gain. Whenever the nurses point out my weight increasing I explain to them that I am a student and so experience high levels of stress and also have very little time and money to make healthy meals.
When I explain this, instead of helping me with my problems the staff are condesending and rude to me, showing next to no empathy for the fact that my studies are a more important factor in my time than my weight. I have tried to diet but when you have no money or time this is difficult and I am fed up with the snotty comments I get all the time when I try to explain the situation.
