"I came away totally confused on what to do next!"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as the patient),

I was sent up to A&E after having a routine eye test that revealed both eyes had haemorrhages, the optician contacted a eye surgeon who was on call at Boston hospital who advised the optician that I should be sent to A&E straight away for a head CT scan, I was given a letter to go up to the A&E with.

I initially saw a nurse, which went great an they explained everything well. I was then called for my CT scan, again the nurses was great an explained everything.

Then I saw a Doctor who I feel was far from helpful or knowledgeable in my opinion, they wasn't going to send me for a CT scan, despite me already having a scan an hour before!

They then went an found the results of the scan. I was then sent home as the scan was clear. I'm still having the the symptoms which was the reason I went for an eye test.

Today I've seen my GP who is in the process of finding out what is going on and what the cause is to my haemorrhages. It comes as a given that you have long waits, which for me isn't an issue, but I feel the doctors knowledge was inadequate and their knowledge of me and why I was there and who has sent me to A&E wasn't good enough. I came away totally confused on what to do next!

Dear Matttty

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Please accept our apologies that you had such a poor visit to the A&E department at Lincoln Hospital, and have reason to be less than happy.

If you could contact the PALS department at the hospital (01522 707071, or e-mail to pals@ulh.nhs.uk) and give them your full details, I would be more than happy to investigate your concerns further.

Thank you for your very positive comments regarding the A&E nursing staff. We will ensure that this is shared with them.

A&E Team, Lincoln County Hospital
