"I could not have received better treatment"

About: NHS 111 West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

On Sunday evening I started to get a pain in my neck which progressively became worse. By 2: 00 in the morning it was very painful, my wife called the 111 service to seek advice.

Two paramedics arrived shortly afterwards, they checked my heart in case there was a link to a heart condition and also examined my neck. They thought it was muscular pain but best if I was seen by a clinician and called their team for advice.

A clinician came to see me very promptly, he examined me thoroughly and thought it was probably muscle strain in my neck. He gave me diazepam and codeine to help with the pain and waited with me whilst the tablets took effect, As the pain eased he suggested some neck exercises that would help to ease the movement and lessen the stiffness. He was with me for almost two hours, I could not have received better treatment.

I was very happy with the care I received from the paramedics and the doctor who attended, they were all excellent.
