"A & E Asthma repeat entry"

About: Hereford County Hospital / Accident and emergency

I had an Asthmatic episode less than a month previously which I did not recover fully from before having a second episode.

When picked up by the ambulance I was stabilized reasonably well, on entry to A and E the doctor decided to ignore the history of my case and thought I was well enough to go home there and then. Despite having a peak flow under half of my normal.

A relative argued the case with the Ward Nurse in charge and I was admitted.

However this was after they had me halfway out the door.

The admission was needed as I needed regular treatment beyond my normal asthma plan.

If you need to go to A and E here take a reliable person who will listen and state your case if needed. Doctors are blindly followed here too often, and they need challenging.

The Nursing staff listens well, but need the help of others to help them question things.
