About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

(as the patient),

I feel like some of King's nurses lack compassion towards me. In my view, they failed to treat me with dignity and respect, and did not take into account my wishes.

I did not want to answer nurse's questions to avoid distress. They were ready to send me out the door. Another time one failed to listen to my concerns saying they know better I do not need more care. Yet another time I feel like they ignored me, sort of pretended I am not there. They feel like they had no concern for my wellbeing and good. I feel like they do not know what is compassion in my experience. That is a foreign territory to them. It is a mistake to trust nurses in my opinion after my experience.

I am very sorry to hear that you felt that our nurses lacked compassion and didn't always treat you with respect and as an individual.

Compassion is something that we absolutely strive to always give our patients and it is very worrying to hear about your experience.

I know that our Chief Nurse, Shelley Dolan, would like to be able to discuss your concerns in more detail and, in particular to know, which ward or wards you were treated on.

I know it's not always easy to talk about these things but I would really encourage you to get in touch so that we can follow up on your concerns.
