I attended a meeting on 4th of April 2017, to discuss my future management. I took my mother with me as I had a previous bad experience with this doctor.
I was informed that the doctors had had a meeting and I was told they 'didn't think' I needed a pacemaker anymore. The doctor didn't give any rationale behind their decision. The doctor went on to say "if you want a second opinion you will have to go outside the borough because everyone here has already decided you're not going to get another pacemaker".
I stated I wasn't very happy about this decision, especially considering the doctors didn't have a clue how my heart was going to cope without the pacemaker. I suggested that I felt they were being medically irresponsible by making this decision, especially when I am still using the pacemaker, thereby suggestive of me still having the original heart problem. No follow up was suggested during the meeting, so as far as I was concerned the doctors had made their decision then didn't want to know. I was very upset regarding the way this whole situation was handled. I am thankful I had my mum with me as support and also as a witness to the appalling way the doctor handled this case. I felt the doctors attitude to be arrogant, inhumane and dismissive.
If I had the choice I would not want to ever set foot in Liverpool heart and chest hospital again.
"not consulted in decision making at all"
