Extremely rude staff. First told my no doctors were working and was pointed to a sign - even though main reception told me to go in even though there was a sign up. I then over heard the nurse say rudely to the receptionist 'Why doesn't she just go to A&E - when we are told so much these days not to go to A&E and to use our minor injury clinics.
A nurse then came to the half full reception and asked me to show me the rash in the reception room while I was standing holding my baby in one hand and car keys in the other - it's very difficult to undress a baby while standing so I asked for a room and laughed in disbelief. I was then patronised and sent home being told 'all babies get rashes sometimes it's all about welcoming them to the world'. Before I went the nurse told what looked like a registrar Doctor what they had told me and they then said 'yes we don't deal with under 1's - only St Richards do'.
They didn't even take my babies name (who is just 6 months old).
I waited until 8pm and then decided to ring 111 but had a long battle with myself after being made to feel a 'stupid first time mum'. 111 told to take him to Chichester hospital by which time it was 10pm and turns out he had a bad allergic reaction and his 'rash' was in fact bad hives which were all over his body. His hands and feet were swollen from the rash by this point and extremely red.
I expect at 45 minutes before closing time before Easter weekend they couldn't be bothered to deal with me. Lots of things were said that were extremely patronising and the staff were very rude towards me when there was obviously an issue!
He has since had Prition and steroid cream and is much better thanks to Chichester. I just hope they don't do this to a child with a more serious problem.
