"Thank you for saving my life"

About: Alexandra Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I feel that I have to praise the staff at the Alex hospital for saving my life!

I went in the Alex at the end of January for a triple hernia repair and removal of adhesions around my bowel!

Unfortunately the next day I deteriorated in ITU and was diagnosed with compartment syndrome in my abdomen and my family were asked to attend immediately as I was given 30 minutes to live, my bowel stopped working and my kidneys failed. The doctor on call operated in ITU and saved my life. I spent 4 weeks on a ventilator and have been home 3 weeks after a total of 7 weeks in the Alex. It will be a long road to recovery but I am so grateful that I am still here and my treatment by all staff was exemplary.

Thank you all so much Alex staff you are amazing!

Thank you for your comments and for taking the time to share your feedback with us after a very distressing experience. We are very pleased to hear that you were well attended to and that the care you received was of the high standard we aim to deliver.

We will share your message with the staff concerned which will be greatly appreciated and hope that you are continuing to recover well .

Kind regards
