My daughter has just given birth at the Friarage maternity unit and I cannot fault the care given to her, the baby, her husband and me.
They were very clear what they could and couldn't offer as a midwife led unit and gave my daughter the option of moving up to James Cook if she felt she needed more care during early labour.
However after a couple of false starts she went into active labour and the care was amazing.
She managed to give birth with just gas and air and it was clear that she was being fully monitored the whole time while the decision making was hers.
The after care is also excellent and she hasn't felt forced to leave before she's ready.
Both her husband and I were very involved in her labour and this was encouraged and supported.
An all round great experience.
Well done and thanks to all the staff.
