I thought the outpatient services and care that I received, from screening to diagnosis, laboratory tests and scans, feedback of results and treatment planning were delivered with great efficiently, professionalism and support. Whilst it would be unfortunate for any individual to be in similar circumstances, I was reassured by the expertise of the Surgeon and team and for their consideration and respect shown at each stage of my care.
I am very grateful to the nurses who cared for me on Charlotte Ward, although I felt that there was generally a lack of sensitivity and disinterest in the emotional impact of major gynaecological surgery. Whist they were relatively good at attending to the physical needs, I found their readiness to compare the physical abilities of women who have just given birth to those of women who had cancer and a hysterectomy, etc, to be frankly astonishing.
I also felt that there needs to be more thought in placing patients (especially women of child bearing age) who have lost their ability to reproduce next door to women who are either pregnant, or fortunate to have recently given birth.
The cleanliness of the hospital and food offered to patients was generally good.
Thank You.
