I went in for simple Inguinal hernia repair which has left me in constant pain and awaiting further surgery, hopefully from a more competent surgeon, and in another hospital. The sad thing about the whole situation is that it could have been avoided if the registrar that saw me wasn't under pressure, whether that be from a lack of beds or their own need to impress the hierarchy . The hospital have subsequently tried to deny any responsibility. I do however have a letter from the ombudsman saying that the hospital got it wrong, not much compensation for continued pain. I'm also to receive a letter of apology from the hospital for its failings. This will light my fire as they had the opportunity to apologise at the very beginning of the process but declined to do so. A letter of apology forced upon them by the ombudsman is an insult .
"If possible go further afield. Definitely do..."
