"Turns out that the clavicle is broken"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I attended the emergency department at East Surrey Hospital last week with a shoulder injury.

After a 6 hour wait I was x-rayed and seen by a Nurse Practitioner who assessed that there was no break. I was sent away with a "Sprains" booklet.

I insisted on an appointment at the Trauma clinic, but none was available for two weeks so I elected to pay out of pocket and see a private consultant.

Turns out that the clavicle is broken into three pieces and needs to be plated to repair it.

Operation to be done privately!
