"Unable to get an appointment"

About: General practices in Ayrshire & Arran

(as the patient),

After an hour on hold waiting on a receptionist to answer my call, I'm then told there are no available appointments. I have to wait for a month if I'm to make an appointment in advance or phone in the morning to be told there aren't any available. Considering I'm trying to see a GP regarding a severe mental health issue, I think it's pathetic that a surgery with at least 5 doctors and a couple of NP's can't provide on the day appointments for matters this urgent.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Unhappytownheadpatient,

I do so appreciate your annoyance and frustration. As you may know, GPs are independent contractors and as such; they have their own feedback and complaints process. I know it can be tedious but you should consider going through this process to help encourage change.

In the meantime I will pass this to the Primary Care Management and the GP Practice Manager for their reflection and consideration.
