"I felt ignored because of my skin colour"

Don't even want to give it 1 star. For my experience I would give it 0 stars. I was watched by a waiting room full of other patients hobbling until I fell & my husband had to drag me unaided to be seen whilst a nurse watched and he had to beg for a wheelchair.

Once on the A&E ward all, but mainly two Caucasian members of staff, refused to help me and instead I was left in pain. I begged for pain relief and a commode as I couldn't walk to a toilet. Nobody did my vital observations for over an hour and consequently I was left without pain relief and a commode for over an hour trying to hold in my vomit and excrement, which was totally inhumane and demoralising.

I was then seen by African Caribbean members of staff ONLY and this was a handful of times over a 5-hour period. My husband felt threatened by a Caucasian nurse whilst he was trying to explain the urgency of my condition (which is life threatening if not treated immediately).

He was ignored and I was hospitalised for days with a  long recovery period. I think this was due  due to the lack of action and differential treatment of staff. I understand the NHS is under crisis but this is something else!
