About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Occupational Therapy

(as the patient),

I attended a 4 week course run via Wishaw General Hospital which was held in Houldsworth Centre, Wishaw from Feb until March. The course was about fatigue management for long term conditions and was extremely informative. The course provided information, opportunity to ask questions, gain expert advice and share experiences with other in the same situation. Long term conditions can make you feel isolated and alone without experiencing shared understanding and this aspect was invaluable. The course has provided me with strategies which I hope to practice and put in to action in my daily life to help me cope better. The staff who ran the course were great, empathetic and knowledgeable. I really appreciate this approach to help manage my condition rather than always feeling medicalised and all about yet another medication (I am however very grateful for medication).
