"Poor service for a private hospital"

About: Spire Roding Hospital

My boyfriend was referred to this private hospital through the NHS.

This seemed like a fantastic opportunity as we thought we would have advantages of the private sector. However, this was not the case.

We were showed to my boyfriends room - a horrible tiny box room with no windows - it was so claustrophobic! We asked if we could move to another room with a window as there were many available and that remained empty all day - but they said no!

My boyfriend had his operation and came back to to recover in the room. However, no nurse came to check on his. He started being very sick and vomiting blood and I called for a nurse but no one came for ages.

Eventually somebody turned up and at this point my boyfriend was on the floor vomiting blood. I asked them for a sick bowl so my boyfriend could be sick in bed and she came back with a tiny box - completely useless! They didn't seem at all concerned he was on the floor.

The nurse never came back with water and it was a case of me running around the ward trying to find somebody because they constantly ignored the bell!

There was no where to buy food apart from a vending machine. However, it only accepted exact change! I ran around the wards and hospital looking for change but no one could help me. I went 15 hours without food.

The only saving grace was the wonderful nurse who came in the afternoon to look after my boyfriend. They were fantastic and looked up my boyfriend a treat!

Overall, very poor service except for pm. nurse.
