My story started with a very bad bout of "flu" and a trip to my doctor, Dr Moxy, at Primrose Lane Medical Centre.
She sent me for an xray which showed up a shadow on my lung. I am so very, very grateful to her and Dr Sweeney, at the same practice, for their swift action which set the NHS wheels in motion for my particular journey, including xrays, CT scan, PET scan and biopsy, all of which which resulted in an early diagnosis.
Today I had a breathing test at Victoria Hospital with Kara, who was friendly and reassuring. She took a lot of time to chat to me, listening and answering my questions. In fact it was such a relaxed atmosphere I could have easily been talking with a friend! What an asset she is! Included in this observation is Dr Mackenzie.
I am very lucky to have been placed under his wing. From our first meeting I knew I was in good hands because he gave me so much information in such a positive manner that even when it was confirmed that I have lung cancer I didn't panic.
He is heading up an incredible team, including Carol, my very special clinical nurse who is always available to take my calls and calmly offer information and support.
I have to mention his secretary as well, who responds to my emails promptly which all adds to the secure feeling that I am "in the loop". The incredible NHS........there is nothing in the world to beat it! I know that they are all doing their best for me and thanks to Dr Mackenzie and his team I am quietly confident.
"I know that they are all doing their best for me"
