"The power of the scheme cannot be underestimated"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services – Inpatient

(as a parent/guardian),

Two years ago my teenage daughter developed very bad anxiety and depression resulting in hospital admissions. She became more isolated and giving up the sports she loved.

Over the past year, through the Check it out campaign ( NHS Nottinghamshire Trust Panthers scheme) she got some free ice hockey tickets.

She did not get to the initial game as she had a panic attack, but slowly we she built up going. I must say thanks to the Ice arena staff too always friendly and understanding.

One year on much less anxiety when attending matches and looks forward to going. I know this is only part of the jigsaw of her continued recovery but the power of the scheme cannot be underestimated

Dear sparkynewleaf,

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such lovely feedback, I am really pleased to hear of the positive impact the trips to the ice hockey have had on your daughters recovery. Sport is a great way to bring people together and we are very lucky that Nottingham Panthers promote Mental Health so positively and offer these opportunities for inclusion. Many young people from the inpatient service have accessed the games and have found them equally beneficial especially as they can continue to follow Nottingham Panthers post discharge.

I hope your daughter continues the journey of recovery and can return to the sports she loves with confidence in the future.

Best wishes

Carmain
