I had this operation to cure incontinence. I wasn't given another treatment or told the side effects. The only adverse effect was that I might have to use a catheter after the operation. I was not told the whole story. I had the operation in 2013 at Kettering Hospital and when I woke up I immediately was in enormous pain, that I had morphine. This continued for months on strong painkillers. I was referred to a pain specialist and told I had nerve damage which was causing the pain.
I have had continuous pain, tiredness leading to exhaustion where I spend three quarters of my life asleep. I have back and abdominal pains. Whole body aching of the bones, which lasts for hours and I have to rest. These symptoms are getting g worse. I have now seen another consultant and have asked for the sling to be removed. I have to now wait to see if the NHS will fund this. If they do I will have to join a long waiting list until they can perform the operation.
I've been told this operation is a major operation and will take along time to recover from. I don't care I just want to feel better. Also my incontinence might return again I don't care, I just want to feel better.
