"You do an amazing job everyday"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Inverurie Hospital / Minor Injuries

(as a relative),

I want to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt "thank you" to NHS Grampian.

Thank you for providing an excellent National Health Service that my parents are so very honoured to know they can count on.

My Dad is an extremely fit, 71 year old gentleman. He had a significant cycling accident on a Sunday morning. This resulted in my Dad making his way (not sure how) to Inverurie Hospital by himself after the incident. We then went on to A&E and In-patient care at ARI.

We cannot thank the staff at Inverurie Hospital enough for their professionalism, their friendly calm approach to Dads injuries. What a remarkable community staff team to be proud of. The Nursing and Health Care Support Worker Team were wonderful in their assessment and support provided to my Dad.

On arrival at ARI, it was a very busy Sunday. The receptionist was extremely helpful and explained the next steps. We waited for approximately one hour (totally reasonable). My Dad was then 'welcomed' by a number of professionals who had at the absolute heart of their role my Dads best interests. Dad was assessed and supported by many of the team, including Katie the Nurse Practitioner (Dad words "a super lass") the FY2 from ENT ( apologies I cannot remember this gentleman's name, he did introduce himself) the Registrar from Plastics, John( sorry I cannot remember Johns full name). John was amazing with his ability to reassure us all, and the Theatre Nurses and all the staff on Ward 214 too. We, as a family received seamless first class service. We are truly grateful for a wonderful NHS service here in Grampian.

For my Dad from point of presentation at Inverurie Hospital at approximately 12 midday on Sunday to ARI and home at 11pm the same day following full assessment, pre surgical assessment, surgery and post operative support. We are so truly grateful, to the staff of NHS Grampian, you do an amazing job everyday. Thank you, on behalf of my family.

Hello

Many thanks for taking the time to get in touch and highlight the care your dad received after his accident. I do hope your dad is making a good recovery.

It is great to read of the part the Emergency Department had to play in caring for your Dad and that from arrival to discharge all staff were professional with your dads care and best interests expressed in their treatment of him. I’m sure Katie will be very pleased to be mentioned by name and to hear your dad referred to her as a ‘super lass’.

I have already shared your story with some of the staff on today and can say they are very proud to be part of such a positive story and experience of NHS Grampian staff and services, so we thank you very much for sharing!

Take care

Kerry
