I have recently attended the Neurology department following a referral by by GP, who had serious concerns. The desk staff were all polite, respectful and helpful. The 'specialist', on the other hand, was not. I left the hospital feeling as if I had wasted my time: I got the distinct impression that my notes had not been read; that I was not listened to (or that the specialist wasn't particularly interested); that the responses I received came from a standard template; and I certainly felt patronised throughout.
All this has been reinforced now that I have researched the 'diagnosis' I was given and found that very little of it actually applies to me.
