"Wonderful Maternity Care at York District Hospital "

About: York Hospital

(as the patient),

On 13 November 2007 I gave birth to my first child at York Hospital - the care I received during labour and on ward G3 after having my little girl was fantastic. Every member of staff from the cleaners and catering staff through to the wonderful midwives and healthcare assistants made every effort to make sure me, my husband and my baby were given the best possible care.

During labour the midwives did everything they could to help me stick as much as possible to my birth plan - and were wonderfully supportive throughout to both me and my husband.

We would like to say special thanks to Midwife Pauline Tottie who was a near to an angel as anyone could get - she stayed with me well after the end of her shift to be with me when my baby Eva was born and it meant the world to me that she took the time out the following day to check how Eva and I were getting on on the ward. Another midwife Hannah who cared for me in early labour was also a real star.

The Maternity Unit at York is probably a long way from being the most well equipped in the country but what it may lack in plush surroundings it more than makes up in the attitude and nature of the staff that work there.

Despite York not being geographically my nearest hospital I will definitely choose to have my next child in York also.

Many thanks from Karen and Phillip, and baby Eva Mae who cannot thank enough all the staff especially Pauline
